Corrosion Inhibitor Distribution and Injection Cycle Prediction in a High Water-Cut Oil Well: A Numerical Simulation Study

The wellbore downhole strings corrosion has attracted extensive interest as most of the oilfields in China enter high water-cut period. Injection inhibitors, one effective protection methods, is employed to mitigate corrosion. Nevertheless, its wider application suffers from insufficient knowledge regarding distribution inhibitors inside tubing, particularly with different inhibitor injection cycles. Thus, this study, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method was first attempted investigate hydrodynamics a tubing and interactions between produced water-cut. Key factors including time, heights, rates, oil phase velocities viscosities were discussed detail regards how they affect tubing. Feasible formulas established for predicting volume fraction at which showed good agreement simulation results. It noted that determination rate depends on both film quality stability annular flow. Based interphase diffusion effect, new determining intermittent cycle proposed maintain integrity inner wall.
